Ingredients

  4. 2 cups milk (whole or 2%)
  5. 2 cups shredded sharp cheddar cheese
  6. 1/2 cup mozzarella cheese (optional)
  7. Salt and pepper to taste
  8. Breadcrumbs for topping (optional)

Instructions

  • Cook macaroni according to package directions. Drain and set aside.
  • In a saucepan, melt butter over medium heat. Stir in flour and cook for 1–2 minutes.
  • Gradually whisk in milk until smooth. Cook and stir until thickened.
  • Stir in cheddar and mozzarella until melted and smooth.
  • Season with salt and pepper. Add cooked macaroni and stir to coat.
  • Transfer to a baking dish or slow cooker. Sprinkle with breadcrumbs if desired.
  • Bake at 350°F for 15 minutes or keep warm in slow cooker for serving.
