- 1 cup buttermilk

- ½ tsp salt
- ½ cup cocoa powder (for chocolate version)
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 350°F and grease a 9×13 inch sheet pan.
- In a bowl, mix flour, baking soda, cocoa powder, and salt.
- In another bowl, cream butter and sugar until fluffy.
- Add eggs and vanilla, beat until combined.
- Alternate adding dry mix and buttermilk to the wet ingredients.
- Pour batter into pan and spread evenly.
- Bake 30–35 minutes or until toothpick comes out clean.
- Cool completely before frosting.
Notes
- Substitute cocoa with lemon zest for a lemon sheet cake.
