Description

  • This sweet potato casserole with pecan topping is the perfect make-ahead side dish for your holiday table. It’s rich, creamy, and finished with a crunchy pecan streusel that adds just the right amount of texture and sweetness.

Ingredients

  1. 4 cups mashed sweet potatoes (about 3 large potatoes)
  2. 1/2 cup brown sugar
  3. 1/4 cup melted butter
  4. 2 large eggs
  5. 1/2 cup milk
  6. 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
  7. 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon

  9. Topping:
  10. 1/2 cup chopped pecans
  11. 1/3 cup brown sugar
  12. 2 tablespoons flour
  13. 2 tablespoons melted butter

Instructions

  • Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 9×9 baking dish.
  • In a large bowl, combine mashed sweet potatoes, brown sugar, melted butter, eggs, milk, vanilla, and cinnamon. Mix until smooth.
  • Pour the sweet potato mixture into the prepared dish and smooth the top.
  • In a separate bowl, mix together pecans, brown sugar, flour, and melted butter until crumbly.
  • Sprinkle the topping evenly over the sweet potato mixture.
  • Bake for 35–40 minutes or until the topping is golden and the casserole is set.
  • Let rest for 10 minutes before serving.

Notes

  1. This dish can be made up to 2 days in advance. Assemble and store covered in the fridge, then bake just before serving. You can also freeze it after baking and reheat in the oven.
