Description

  • A hearty make-ahead breakfast sausage casserole perfect for brunch gatherings, holidays, or meal prep mornings.

Ingredients

  1. 1 lb breakfast sausage
  2. 6 large eggs
  3. 1 ½ cups milk
  4. 2 cups shredded cheddar cheese
  5. 6 slices day-old bread, cubed
  6. ½ tsp garlic powder
  7. Salt and pepper to taste
  8. Chopped green onions for garnish

Instructions

  • Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9×13” baking dish.
  • In a skillet, cook sausage until browned. Drain excess fat.
  • Layer bread cubes and cooked sausage in the baking dish.
  • Whisk eggs, milk, garlic powder, salt, and pepper in a bowl.
  • Pour egg mixture over bread and sausage. Top with cheese.
  • Cover and refrigerate overnight or bake immediately.
  • Bake uncovered for 40–45 minutes until golden and set.
  • Let rest 5 minutes. Garnish with green onions. Serve warm.

Notes

  1. You can swap sausage with bacon or veggie crumbles.
  2. For added flavor, stir in sautéed mushrooms or spinach.
